About

Hi there,

My name is Samantha and I’ve started this blog to share the experiences we have as music teachers, and in particular how what we practice ourselves can help our students.

It is a collaborative blog and I’m keen to have as many teachers contribute as possible. If you are music teacher and would like to write a post, please contact me with your details and thoughts and I’ll get the ball rolling on your account.

Regards,

Samantha Coates

  1. Excellent listing of all that we need to learn to avoid during a performance and how to prepare to avoid these tendencies.

    1. Getting ready for an Arkansas NATS competition next month. Your advice was fully needed. This is the first time I have ever done any type of competition before and I feel like my teacher is preparing me well. But, I need to make sure if I perform 1, 2 or 3 times before the judges, that I am consistent every time. Oh, I am a baritone and 66 years old. I am happy they have a division for people like me. Singing Sarti, Vaughn-Williams and Handel.
